Best Black Friday Aldi deals 2020: Offers on Nintendo Switch, AirPods and more

2 months ago 8

The hype for Aldi’s first ever Black Friday sale has been real, and it’s finally here.

With some of the most competitive prices we’ve seen, it’s currently offering exclusive discounts on the big-ticket items, such as the Nintendo Switch and Apple AirPods, along with its collection of own-brand favourites.

As with all of Aldi’s special buys, once these sell out, they are gone, but below we’ve rounded up the very best deals to be had. Run, don’t walk.

Our IndyBest team hand-picks every deal we feature. We may earn some commission from the links in this article, but our selections have been made independently and without bias. This revenue helps to fund journalism across The Independent

(Nintendo)

Discounts come few and far between on these consoles, so if you’ve got the Nintendo Switch on your Christmas list, snap up this deal from Aldi where you’ll save a whopping 23 per cent.

The Independent’s technology editor and avid gamer, Andrew Griffin, explains what makes the Switch such a great choice, whether you’re looking to update your gaming kit or shop for a loved one’s Christmas present. "The games are incredible, the console is packed with fun, and Nintendo has pulled out a stroke of genius all around.”

As the most competitive price we’ve seen, it’s unlikely that you’ll find it cheaper anywhere else.

(Apple)

Another very competitive price from Aldi on this pair of Apple AirPods that retail at £199.99, meaning you’ll be making a whopping £110 saving. The Independent’s technology critic, David Phelan, rated these highly in his review of the best wireless headphones, praising them for being “some of the very lightest in-ears you can find”. He added that the “audio quality is very good, as is call quality, which works even if you only use one earbud”. This is an absolutely phenomenal deal for such a high-quality set of earbuds, we don’t think you’ll find a better price anywhere else.

Lego Star Wars Millennium Falcon building set: RRP £139.99, now £49.99

(Lego)

Calling all Star Wars fans, this one’s for you. This buildable model captures the signature freighter in incredible detail and is equipped with LED lights, while the cockpit has space for two figurines, which are also included. This will be the gift that keeps on giving as there are hours of fun to be had.

(Aldi)

This year the supermarket has you well and truly covered when it comes to all your gaming needs. According to Aldi, this mouse comes equipped with seven adjustable buttons and LED illumination. To make sure your gaming experience is as smooth as possible, it’s designed with a metal bottom, so you’ll always be ahead of your competitors. Purchase alongside the gaming keyboard (£14.99), which has been designed especially to make sure you can press multiple keys at once.

(Aldi)

We weren’t lying when we said Aldi has you sorted in the games department – case in point this headset. Thanks to the microphone, you can quickly and easily chat to friends while you play, and the soft over-ear pads look like they’ll be comfortable to wear over long periods of time. We also think these will work well while WFH and on conference calls. Multipurpose and an absolute steal at £14.99.

(Aldi)

A smartwatch can be an expensive purchase, and perhaps it’s something you’re after but not willing to fork out on. Luckily Aldi’s own-brand fitness watch seems to do everything you’d expect and some. The brand says it can count your steps, monitor your heart rate, analyse your sleeping pattern and even acts as an alarm clock. All this for £19.99, we know what we’re putting on our shopping list.

Reka portable Bluetooth speaker: £24.99

(Aldi)

Owing to lockdown restrictions, many of us are spending more time outdoors, so make sure you are equipped with the tech so you can bring the party to you. This Bluetooth speaker looks like the real deal and Aldi claims that it has up to five hours playtime. It certainly looks like it’ll rival it’s big brand competitors.

Philips less mess vacuum beard and stubble trimmer: RRP £50, now £29.99

(Philips)

From stubble to big beards, maintaining your look is important, so why not give Aldi’s own-brand stubble trimmer a whirl. While we can’t testify, the supermarket claims that the vacuum technology will catch 90 per cent of your hairs.
