Pete Dunne def. KUSHIDA

When Pete Dunne said he was going to wrestle for the hypothetical title of “Best Wrestler in the World,” my expectations for his opponent were far higher than KUSHIDA, even if he does have a legit claim to that title.

This match was the perfect combination of deft storytelling and great wrestling—both technical and brawling. Dunne vs. KUSHIDA will be hard to follow for both nights.

Bronson Reed Wins 6-Man Gauntlet Eliminator

Swerve Scott def. Leon Ruff LA Knight def. Dexter Lumis Bronson Reed def. LA Knight Swerve Scott def. Cameron Grimes Bronson Reed def. Swerve Scott

Leon Ruff diving onto Bronson Reed with such staggering speed, and not moving him a single inch, was a sight to behold.

Cameron Grimes gave Swerve Scott money and the Virgil jokes basically wrote themselves from there.

Beth Phoenix said “you get a suplex! You get a suplex!” an it was one of the funnier versions of that joke.

Dexter Lumis had a scary landing when he got his leg caught in the bottom rope after going over the top rope. Thankfully, he seemed to be fine by the time they returned from commercial.

Swerve Scott and Bronson Reed wrestled a helluva Final 2. Judging by the cooling off period for LA Knight, I’d have no problem seeing Swerve Scott slide into that role against Reed.

WALTER def. Tommaso Ciampa—WWE United Kingdom Championship

These two were hitting each other so hard, I almost wanted this match to take place in an empty arena to truly appreciate the sickening thuds.

This match was awesome, and lived past even its loftiest expectations.

MSK def. Grizzled Young Veterans and Legado Del Fantasma

This match was wrestled at a GYV pace for at least the first five minutes before MSK finally made its comeback.

As soon as this turned into an MSK match, with a flurry of high-flying, I couldn’t take my eyes off it.

I don’t think anybody has been put over so strong in their first few months with WWE or NXT than MSK.

Raquel Gonzalez def. Io Shirai—WWE NXT Women’s Championship

Vic Joseph emphatically called the NXT women’s division the best women’s division in the world, and I think even that might be selling it short.

Raquel Gonzalez felt like a lock to win this match the second she kicked out of Io Shirai’s Top-rope Moonsault. WWE couldn’t have pulled the trigger at a better time.
