Download Discounts for Dec. 3: Samurai II: Dojo, Geared, Juzzies

Check out today’s Download Discounts for three free games to fill out your app selection. We’ve got a virtual fighter with some role-playing elements in Samurai II: Dojo, and a couple of puzzlers to keep you busy.

Samurai II: Dojo (iPhone, iPad) Free

This top-down virtual fighter pits you, a hard-working, button-mashing samurai, against a slew of enemies in the survival mode from the app’s sister game, Samurai II: Vengeance. It contains a variety of difficulty modes and some simple virtual controls: steer your warrior around with a joystick on the left side of the screen, while using either strong or weak attacks, or rolling to safety, with three buttons on the right side.

Dojo also features karma points, which you receive for besting your enemies. In a role-playing game-like turn, you can spend your points to unlock new abilities for your character to increase his effectiveness in battle. The app also features Game Center support for achievements and online leaderboards.

Geared (iPhone) Free

Geared is a pretty interesting and innovative puzzler that requires you to drag free gears from the bottom of the screen and drop them into a gear system in order to connect them all and make the gears spin. It seems simple at first, until you find you not only have to place the gears creatively to get them to work, but you have to use a fairly high level of precision to solve the puzzles as well.

The app is free for a limited time and comes packed with puzzle levels: 150, in fact. It also includes leaderboards and lets you jump around to any level — perfect for taking a break from the nearly impossible puzzles with a few of the easiest ones.

Juzzies (iPhone) Free

Juzzies are different-colored balls that are affected by gravity in a variety of ways in this physics puzzler. By tilting your iPhone, you can direct the Juzzies to the exit of each puzzle in different ways. But each of the versions of Juzzies react to tilting differently, so you’ll need to consider your strategy before starting each puzzle.

With 60 puzzles spread over six different game worlds, this simple, challenging app will keep you busy for a while.
