Fresh iPhone Apps for Dec. 13: Plane Finder AR Free, Gleek Jam, Hashable

We’ve got a set of three free apps for you today: a lite version of an augmented reality app that pipes you information on planes flying over head; one that lets you search for, preview and download songs from the hit show Glee; and one that uses Twitter, email and your mobile device to keep track of people you meet and network with instead of constantly exchanging business cards. Check them out below.

Plane Finder AR Free (iPhone) Free

The makers of Plane Finder AR, pinkfroot limited, have put together a free version of the nifty augmented reality app for those of us unwilling to part with $2 to get information we don’t really need.

I can’t think of a use for this app, except that it’s interesting. It allows you to point your iPhone at a plane flying overhead and instantly get information about the flight. It carries less information than the paid version, like departure and destination airports, but it’s still does some cool stuff.

Gleek Jam (iPhone, iPad) Free

Some of the most popular songs on iTunes are the weekly installment of covers from the musical TV show Glee. This app funnels all the songs from the show that are available for purchase into one place, allowing you to search by title, season, performer and episode.

Once you’ve found the song you want, you can sample it or purchase it through iTunes and download it instantly. The app also includes a goofy “slush toss” picture manipulation function, in which you can throw virtual slushies on your photos like in those goofy Glee ads.

Hashable (iPhone, iPad) Free

You can get into the Hashable beta test by downloading the new iPhone app, which allows you to use Twitter to record connections you make with people in real life. It’s an interesting networking tool that allows you to skip collecting business cards in favor of plugging an email address or Twitter handle into the app, instantly allowing you to swap contact information with them.

Hashable makes use of Twitter to allow you to post your connections to the social networking site as well, and you can even use the service to introduce or meet people over the Internet. Once you have your account set up, Hashable keeps track of the people you’re interacting with so your connections’ contact information never gets lost.
