Boy, could I have used Currency Converter about three months ago when I was traveling in Italy! If you’re a world traveler, you’re going to want to pick up this free iPhone app. It’s quick and simple to use. It converts exchange rates for more than 180 currencies, and even does four metals!
What I like about it is that it’s large and easy to read. With several rates to choose from, you can select the rate and see how much you’re losing or gaining in an instant. My experience is that converting currency is a hassle. Though the travel guides tell you to go to the bank to do this, often that’s not a great idea. We found out the hard way that some places will try to weasel every extra dollar from you that they can. We found ourselves haggling to get better rates. Remember, information is power. Once you know the current rate, you can be more selective as to where you go to convert your currency.
I like that this is quick and accurate. The system this app uses is trusted by corporations, tax authorities and financial institutions. And it’s always a good thing to have this information at your fingertips rather than having to dig it up in a travel app.

My advice to all who are traveling is do your homework. It was much easier to use our ATM card or credit card than to try to exchange cash overseas. Less hassle, and didn’t have to worry about all the cash we had on hand.
